The Inaugural Blog

Well, I've caved. The allure of witty banter on the internet has finally won me over. I must give props to our good friends, the Basshams, for introducing me to blogging and commenting on blogs. I don't have a specific goal for the blog, other than keeping friends and family informed of the goings on of the Chunn family, and hopefully elevating the family creativity. It may evolve over time. We'll see. Those who know me, know that I love almost all things electronic (except Christmas lights you have to string yourself) so it's not twisting my arm to spend some time on the computer. I don't have a goal for posting frequency. I can tell you that life with a wife and 3 kids, a new practice and a few other hobbies will affect how often this happens; not to mention the availability of blog-worthy material. With that said, let's begin.

This weekend was jam-packed. Saturday morning I went deer hunting at my partner's farm in Morrow. I walked to my stand and got settled in. While settling in, I accidentally hung my bow's drawstring on a branch and actually pulled it off the cam. After many attempts to restring in the dark, 15 feet off the ground, I chose to sit and watch, knowing that I would see the biggest deer of my career since I was unarmed. Sure enough a healthy 9 point buck walked within spitting distance, broadside, taunting me and my faulty equipment. Isaac and I went back that afternoon and only saw some does running across the creek.

Isaac had a flag football game between hunting. He is having a great experience. His head coach was a linebacker on Penn State's "82 national championship team and is great with the boys. Another dad runs the offense and does a super job. The cool thing is the kids (7-8-9 yr olds) are really getting it and are running double reverse passes and all kinds of trickery. Isaac scored a 2-point conversion and pulled a few flags. He is really liking it, which makes his dad pretty proud. I must say, the idea of full contact and pads makes me cringe a little. I'm glad that's a ways down the road. I am getting a little taste of what my mom went through when I played.

While Isaac had his game, Hannah went to see Annie with her Aunt Vicki at the Aronoff Theatre. Despite a seating issue (double issued tickets) they had a good time. Next week is The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati's production of High School Musical. The after party is Prom themed. The boys will wear faux-tux t-shirts and Hannah has a pretty dress. This is where we won our Disney cruise three years ago.

Sunday brought a good day of worship at Christ's Church then we were off the zoo, zoo, zoo...how about you, you, you. It is HallZooWeen right now at the Cinci Zoo. The kids trick-or-treated, sans costumes, as we walked around the zoo. The polar bears were the most active and the gorillas were out too. Despite being quite chilly, it was a beautiful, sunny day with the family.

Well, no waxing philosophical today. Hopefully, this will be a source of an occasional smile or chuckle, and a chance to share your opinion or comment.
